QUESTION:
Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to start a career in drilling?
(Question asked by Ross Thomson)
ANSWER:
Hello Ross. I have to warn you that it’s very hard to get a start. I got my daughter started a couple of years ago, she has all certs and offshore experience. Her employer lost a contract so she was surplus to requirements, can’t get another job. If you have a good degree or technical qualification, you could have a chance.
You might like to take a look at a book I wrote, ‘Drilling Technology in Non Technical language’, the 2nd edition is much better than the first. You might be able to request it via your local library.
Best of luck – Steve
