PLANNING A COMPLEX WORKOVER

The term workover is used to refer to any kind of oil well intervention involving invasive techniques, such as wireline, coiled tubing or snubbing. More specifically, a workover refers to the expensive process of pulling and replacing completion or production hardware in order to extend the life of the well.

Course Objective

Following this course, participants will know the advantage of proper planning of a workover, clearly identifying the workover objectives and considering several contingencies to allow a smoother operation. Over 80% of loss of well control incidents occur during workovers or interventions. Recognising the warning signs will also enable a safe and efficient operation.

Audience

This Micro VILT is aimed at drilling and completion engineers, production engineers, surface/subsurface engineers, operations engineers, service company managers, field engineers, field supervisors and operators.

Prerequisite

A basic understanding of drilling and completion principles and some industry exposures are desirable for participants before enrolling in this course. However, if this is not the case, the system will be adapted to meet the needs of all attendees.
