NOTICE: Our Mathcad database got attacked and infected with a virus. Unfortunately, we've had to shut it down until further notice.

You can safely browse the pages, as the Mathcad server was separate to this main website, and was only accessible here. (We used something called an iFrame, which is like a window into a different website).

UPDATE 28th of January 2020: the virus happened just over a week ago. We've temporarily cut and pasted the text parts of the Mathcad pages rather than having blank pages there.

UPDATE 3rd of February 2020: We've been unable to recover the Mathcad worksheets and offer them in a format that provided total security to users. They were published a decade ago, and our IT people say that they would need a complete re-creation with the latest code and security fixes.

APPEAL: These 44 pages were created, and offered as a free resource for over a decade. We know from our website analytics that more than 1000 users visited each month. If only half of these regular visitors donated $20, we would have enough to create an even better solution. As you know, time is money, have these Mathcad pages saved you $20 in time over the years? Mathcad worksheet guidance notes:

Most of the mathcad worksheets listed have two views available. These views are only different in what they display; it’s the same worksheet in each case. In the WORK version, your inputs and the calculated outputs are shown with all the intermediate calculations hidden. In the AUDIT version, all intermediate steps are shown so that you can audit the calculations for yourself to be assured that they are correct. Whichever version you use, enter the data in the fields, choose the unit you want to use from the drop down list next to the data field. When all the inputs are correct, click on the Recalculate button. This sends your inputs to our web server; the calculation is run and the web page is refreshed on your computer with the results. Note that results are given in both SI and Oilfield units.

Some AUDIT sheets have tutorial text and diagrams added; these are the TUTORIAL versions. You can work through the tutorial, with your own inputs if you want, to learn how the calculations work. Note also that the Worksheet references at the bottom give information on the sources of information and formulae for the worksheet and there are version notes also.

Mathcad is brilliant software for serious calculations, far superior to Excel or your local calculator. can deploy Mathcad worksheets online so anyone with a web browser can use Mathcad to carry out standard oilfield calculations.

One of the advantages of Mathcad is that it understands units. If you enter a value and designate that it is in Metres, Mathcad will generate an error if you try to subtract Gallons from it. If Mathcad is used to divide a distance by a time, it will resolve the units to show the result by default in Metres per Second; however you can make Mathcad display in any valid unit system such as Miles per Hour. You can also designate non-standard units, by designating 1 barrel = 42 US gallons. is, as far as we know, unique in being the only oilfield website to deploy Mathcad worksheets online.
