Grant Pierce

Well Completion & Intervention Advisor

Grant started as a cased hole Electric Wireline rigger right out of high school in Louisiana in 1993. During the 2 years he attended University he continued to work his way up to Logging Engineer in a district that spent most of their days and some nights in high-pressure gas fields in North Louisiana perforating and logging.

From Electric Wireline Grant moved into Fracturing and Stimulation in 1996 with BJ Services Company where he worked his way up to Senior Equipment Operator pumping a wide range of high rate jobs, some upwards of 120 barrels per minute with 1.5 million pounds of proppant.

In 1997 he decided it was time to move offshore and acquired a position with Halliburton Production Enhancement in New Iberia. There he was tasked with supervising Halliburton’s first modular skid frac offering in the GoM. Some equipment was acquired from the stimulation vessels and some new equipment was built and over the next year he and his team jumped from jackup to jackup performing Fracpac's with their modular skid package.

When a downturn came in 1998, Grant was offered a position with ProTechnics injecting Radioactive Tracer during Frac and Gravel Pack operations. With his Electric Wireline background, he also conveyed their Memory Production Logging Tools, Completion Evaluation Logging Tools, & Gravel Pack Evaluation Logging Tools. There he worked across a wide range of deepwater and ultra deepwater assets in the GoM and across the continental United States including North Slope, Alaska.

In 2005 Grant was offered a position with Welltec where he was tasked with opening their Gulf of Mexico base of operations servicing horizontal and highly deviated wells with their Tractors and powered Well Intervention tools. Throughout the years he moved from Senior Field Engineer to Base Manager, Operations Manager, & Region Technical Manager. In the years with Welltec he worked from the GoM to West Africa to Asia Pacific to Russia to the North Sea to Australia and India.

In 2015 Grant left Welltec to pursue work as an independent consultant and was offered a position as Well Intervention Supervisor with FTO Services on the LWIV Island Performer. There he took the vessel over from previous owner in the North Sea, integrated a newly built Well Control Package, and built up its services kit preparing the vessel for Riserless Well Intervention operations in the GoM.

Starting in 2018 Grant spent 2 years in Qatar establishing E Plug with their barrier plugs utilized for mechanical segmentation and has consulted on various projects concerning Subsea Light Well Intervention. In recent years Well Intervention has remained his focus and he has continued to build his knowledge and skills in the Subsea LWI industry.

Grant's attention to detail was very evident during the period he covered as APAC Technical Manager. He was very thorough in job planning when it came to covering risks of the operations as well as very persistent in reaching the root cause during investigations. Grant and I worked on some complex wells offshore in Qatar. He is professional, proactive and has excellent communication skills. Grant championed our safety program, which isn't easy to do, day in, day out. There were times when we had to change plans while on the rig and he was a big help when discussing and executing the operation. If ever I had the chance to work with Grant again I wouldn't hesitate, he was a great help and an overall good person to deal with.
